Bob Bastarache

Producer & Assistant Director

Bob Bastarache has been working in film and television production for 30 years. His work began in New York City on PBS Television's, multi-Emmy Award Winner Reading Rainbow.

In 1995 he ventured south to Austin, Tx with a desire to join the burgeoning indie film scene. He earned his keep on the set floor as a Grip and Lighting Technician on films such Spy Kids I,II & III, Hope Floats, Idiocracy, Varsity Blues and Arlington Road.

He is best know as the First Assistant Director for Terrence Malick's Cannes Film Festival 2011 Palm D'Or Award Winner and triple Oscar Nominee The Tree Of Life. His work also includes Lifetime's 2014 Emmy Nominated, The Trip To Bountiful, AMC's The Killing, Disney Plus' The Right Stuff, Netflix's Raising Dion and most recently Warner/Amazon's Western Surrounded.

He's also worked with Elizabeth Avellan's Production of Angel's Sing and began his Assistant Director career with Lance Larson and Jas Shelton's Indie Short Crosswalk in 1998. He's also worked with notable Directors James Wan, Anthony Mandler, Tim McCanlies, Tate Taylor, William Dear, Robert Rodriguez, Tim Blake Nelson, Ron Underwood, Spike Jonze and Shawn Levy among others.

Deadland, which premiered at the SXSW 2023 film festival, marks his debut as a producer.
